Steph is a solicitor and partner in our private client team. An Affiliate Member of STEP, Steph deals exclusively with estate administration, Will drafting, powers of attorney, deeds of variation, deeds of appointment, and advising on tax and trusts law.
Steph has recently finalised a £3 million estate which included 8 properties which were all sold. Slee Blackwell were appointed as Executors along with the deceased son and it took 2 years to finalise as the properties took a while to sell and HMRC took their time to confirm all inheritance tax had been paid. The Executor was very happy with the service that he came into the office with two bunches of flowers for Steph and her assistant Jasmine to say thank you.
Steph has recently finalised an estate which included a dilapidated property where we were appointed as executors along with the deceased’s cousins. It took a year and a half to finalise as the property had to be sold by auction and we also reclaimed payment of inheritance tax.
Steph recently acted for a client to had been diagnosed with dementia and residing in a care home. Steph was instructed to apply for a deputyship order to enable Slee Blackwell to sell the client’s house to pay for the client’s care home fees. After obtaining the deputyship order and selling the property, the client sadly died and no Will could be located. Steph contacted tracing agents to locate the deceased’s long-lost family who happen to reside in Australia. The search is still on going.
